For retail buyers: emerging brands open to independent stockists

Open Shelf started by helping makers see how 434 independent shops want to be pitched. Shop owners asked for the other side of the counter too: a clean way to discover retail-ready independent brands without digging through unvetted cold emails.

We're building a curated directory of wholesale- and consignment-ready independent brands, makers and studios for boutique buyers. In each issue of Now Buying (and on this page) we feature 2–3 vetted brands — sent as a short, occasional email while we're new and growing into a weekly list as more brands and shops sign up — and once we reach 30 vetted brands we'll open the full filterable brand directory here.

How it works

What makes a brand retail-ready on Open Shelf

  1. 1

    Clear wholesale or consignment terms

Every brand listing states whether they sell wholesale, consignment or both, along with their opening order minimum and typical MSRP range so buyers can check fit in seconds.

  2. 2

Direct line sheet or ordering link

We verify that each brand has a working website and a line sheet, wholesale portal or Faire link ready for independent retailers.

  3. 3

2–3 vetted picks per issue → full directory at 30 brands

We feature 2–3 vetted brands in each issue of Now Buying and on this page while we review submissions (sent occasionally while we're new, growing into weekly as the list grows). As soon as 30 vetted brands are live, the filterable directory opens by category, terms and minimum.
